How does the new Kumho Ecsta MX tire stack up to the other competitive street tires in STS?

No, especially if they never release it.

 

I think the MX is the same as the older ECSTA 712. At least the tread pattern is the exact same.

I don't think it has enough for the Azenis

Tread pattern of the MX is extremely different than the 712s. Look it up on tirerack. It actually resembles the BFG KD more than anything

 

I thought it was pretty-much a given that the BFG KD's were a slightly better tire than the Azenis? Just not for the money...

 

better in grip? Maybe. Its a toss-up - however the KD's dont get greezy like the azenies do when they get real hot.

 

i think the kd's and the mx's are in a little higher level than the azenis, but i'm not tire expert.

 

My mistake, I meant ECSTA 711. I know someone (gsrsedan on here) that has some 711s and somewhere on the sidewall it says "MX" on them. He's not in awe of their performance.

 

they HAVE been released, but only in LARGE sizes, 17s and up. There is a local Supra that already has a set. He had KDs before. He said they dont feel as good, but his times are about even. I dont know if i trust his opinion though, so take it all with a grain of salt.

the SW kumho rep said they werent gonna be as sticky as the Falkens, but they're good competition for the KDs... go figure

 

That's amusing, since I've been told that the KD has slightly more maximum grip.
