Ls vtec into 91 crx HELP!
Sorry for the length of this but i have alot of questions. Here is my deal, i have a 1991 CRX with an ls in it, it has all of the original wiring still. I am going to put LS VTEC in it. My setup is going to be a b18a1 block with a gsr head off of a 97 integra. Will everything be plug and play? If not what will i need to do to make it work. Second, can i wire up vtec to the ecu that i have now, or what kind of ecu do i need to get. And lastly is there a vtec distributor that would work on a gsr head and plug right in to my crx harness or what can i do? Thanks for reading.

No.

Since your harness has no provisions for VTEC, you will need to wire that in. This should help you find the pin locations needed to wire in VTEC, knock sensor, etc. Credit to Katman for the great pic.

If you're trying to keep it simple then you need to find an OBD0 JDM PR3 or PW0 ECU. Your OBD0 PR4 LS ECU will not work.

The only dizzy that will work with this set-up (if staying OBD0) is a JDM OBD0 B16A distributor. they were never offered here in the US on a factory honda/Acura, but luckily Distributor King sells brand new ones HERE
Pics of siad dizzy:

Note the correct OBD0 plugs:

You will also need to use your B18A injectors, and you will definately want to ditch the GS-R intake manifold because unless you want to do a full OBD1 conversion and run an OBD1 P72 GS-R ECU you won't even be able to take advantage of the GS-r intake's dual butterfly system.
I'd suggest an aftermarket IM such as Skunk2, Blox, etc. You may need to use the B18A TB as well or try to find a OBD0 B16A TB.

I wouldn't do it that way. You'll never get the proper ignition timing with a jack legged LS distributor. I've seen it done before and the engine ran like **** - whether or not it was solely due to the jack legged dizzy I can't say.
