not again...
Because its beneficial on a 2.2H motor

The inherent problem with a 3 inch exhaust is that most of the commercial ones availabe are straight through design, and it is very hard to quiet down a 3 inch hole. So, for almost straight through free flowing performance with near stock sound level, you might look into using a 5 inch diameter Magnaflow muffler for your resonator, and a Dynomax or Dynomax Turbo muffler.
Hopefully, you will have the supporting mods to make a 3 inch exhaust work for you, a good header, and if you are running one, a good cat. The carsound round metallic has excellent flow for your application.

the h22 doesnt have to be modded to benefit from a 3" exhaust. Its not a damn b16.

So far im going to go with a flowmaster delta 40 series muffler 3inch, vibrant "race cat" all mandrel piping, just not sure what resonator to use to help quiet the noise.

The rule is pretty much the longer the resonator the deeper the tone. With a resonator, you need to make sure there are no baffles, and that the inside diameter doesn't shrink down. I am using a 2.5 inch diameter pipe, 4 inch round body magnaflow for a resonator. Nice deep tone, not too loud, not raspy. A member of an RSX forum is using a 5 inch diameter 3 inch pipe diameter with good success in low noise and flow.
Aren't flowmasters baffled? If you really want a flowing exhaust, you need to find out how many cfm each part of the exhaust will flow.

I am using the 18 inch, 2.5 inch diameter, with a 2.5 inch diameter inner core, 4 inch round. If I could do it over again, I would get the 5 inch round. Magnaflow makes a 2.5 inch, 4 inch round with a smaller diameter inside the muffler, so you have to be careful when you buy.

I ran 3" straight with thermal R&D muffler, no cat, no res. - Loud and also gets raspy. Now I have the Vibrant metal cat + 18" res. and it's got a deeper tone, not raspy at all but still a little loud for me after 3K but what do you expect from a 3" exhaust on a 4 cyl.? It's not that bad for daily driving but I do want to add the Vibrant Ultra quiet res. on there to keep it quiet until 4K at least.
It's hard to drive fast and be quiet at the same time in a Honda. The exhaust note may sound cool and all but I don't want the attention it gets.
