My B18B tranny is leaking fluid, and that got me to thinking about upgrading. I'm really just looking for suggestions as to which way to go.
Type R (Expensive, Short Gearing=bad MPG=Loud HWY Drives, best for acceleration)
GSR (Mid Price Range, somewhat Long Gearing, heard it's of a lesser qaulity than an LS?)
LS (Got one, its alright, but has really long gears)
Si (shorter than LS and GSR Gearing, thats all I really know..)
What other things should I take into account? Personal experiences? Help me out!

type-r... shortest gear ratios,LSD pretty much the best b series tranny made by honda
b16 tranny- short gear ratios, no LSD
gsr-longer gear ratios than the b16 and no LSD
LS- longest gear ratios also no LSD
LSD's make a huge difference, gear ratios matter on what kind of build u are going for...all motor i would go with type-r or b16...boost i would go with the gsr and maybe get a quiafe LSD...matter how much WHP u will be putting down

Im stuck between GSR and Si then.
both for their price and availability.
I plan on not making more than 230WHP when everything is said and done.
So the Si would be more advantagious than the GSR
i dont know if thats a word.

I got a jdm b16 with stock lsd and i love it. If i'm right i think the gear ratios on the jdm b16 are all the same as the usdm type r, except for the final drive. I still love my b16 tranny even though it sucks at at hwy but a quiet exhaust helps out with that

yeah, honestly i wish that was my setup.

Sorry to jack thread but I also was wondering what D series tranny I should get. I currently have the D16Y7 tranny and the gears are pretty long. I heard that the Y8 tranny has a nicer final drive. Would the y8 tranny kill gas mileage or would the shorter gears be worth it?
