Different F4i seat question - probably stupid.

Less than a month until my MSF class and all I can think about at work is getting a bike. I have been looking at some F4is, and had a question. I have seen a F4i with 2 different types of seats.
This...
...and this...
Is that just a seat or something that you can swap out? I don't know what it is, but I really don't like the way the seat looks in the second one. I most likely will never have anyone riding bitch, for multiple reasons.
Is it a model year difference? I seemed to recall seeing same model years with the different seats. I dunno...
Thanks.

I believe you are off by a year actually
99-00 F4 = Banana
01-03 = Split
04+ = Banana

Thanks for the quick responses.
Is there anyway to do a banana seat -> split seat "conversion"?

Yup, just buy an 01-03 subframe, tail, and seats

Is that something that is easy or difficult to swap out?

It's not all that much work, but it is nowhere near as cheap as you would first suspect.
While I and many others feel the split seat looks better, the practicality of the banana seat wins over--they did decide to bring it back afterall

well they brought the banana seat back back cause they wanted the 600rr to have the more sporty split seat.

Ya, I would recommend you find someone who has the split seat but wants the banana and do a straight trade. Probably not worth the cost if you had to buy the parts by themselves.

I wouldn't recommend buying a newer bike and doing the conversion. You should just get a 01-03 cbr
But I think you would prefer a banana seat if you are riding a lot

Banana seats are sooOo comfy. But the split isn't too bad either, I just think it looks better. It's all about preference.

I've got the banana and while it's more comfortable than the regular I don't prefer the look as much but on track I don't care.
I've seen conversions but I disagree with the guy below. Some how-to threads actually looked like a good bit of work and expensive in parts. Seems silly to me. I'd just get another bike before going through that crap.
Split
'01-03
Banana
'04-'06
All it is is the seat though. No performance differences. The banana can still get some lean!

if i was gonna keep the bike for a while id do the swap, looks way better and its very easy to do
I had a 2000F4, loved it. I've ridden F4i's they are a +1 due to fuel injection imo. I now have an SV650 - Which I love more than my F4.
