What are your driving habits like? Are you using synthetic oil? I would say run that bitch like you stole it and let the motor decelerate on it's own. If you haven't done so already change the oil and put fresh oil. NOT SYNTHETIC! If you're using synthetic now than that's probably your problem. If you tried to break them in easy then that can be your other problem. You can try to seat them now, and hope they seat properly.
i changed the oil after 1k and i was driving it kinda easy and then drivin it hard once in a while. i am not using synthetic oil. i have been letting the motor decelerate on its own for the past couple of days. i would get to third gear and rev it up pretty high and then let it slow all the way down and then i would repeat the process.
youre supposed to do normal driving not beat the **** out of it.maybe take it up in the rpm range and let it decellerate to seat the rings.dont beat the crap out of it.damn check the compression.

ys i heard you not suppossed to beat the **** out of it till after the break in preiod. but i think there is some controversy over it. im going to be runnin mine easy for the first couple hundred
No you're NOT supposed to run it light on the first miles. That's most likely why your rings aren't seated yet. If the motor was built right then there's isn't any reason not to run it hard. I think your window of opportunity is closed. Worst case you'll have to hone ur cylinders and put new rings in then start over again.

This link has probably been tossed around automotive forums for ages, but it's got real good info and he makes alot of sense. Plus he has some pics of his pistons and there's NO leaks past the rings whatsoever.

this is a good article but he doesnt tell you to beat the **** out of the motor as stated in earlier posts.he does tell you however to go through the rpm range and let it decellerate.that doesnt mean beat the **** out of the motor!!!
And rings not being seated has jack sht to do with burning coolant...
If you are burning coolant and are using antifreeze you can def tell by the smell. Do a compression check. Just cause it was replaced doesn't mean you don't have a head gasket issue.

ok so from what that article said dont let the engine idle but let it warm up before you run it? doesnt that mean it has to idle for a while, dont rev it up at first start up but go through the power band while its moving?
seems kinda confusing but looks like he knows what hes talkin about ill be puttin my engine in in a week ill have to follow this.
