Alright, I'm pretty new to motorcycles and I have a hydraulic clutch on my cb650sc. I drove it for the first few days when I bought it and the clutch felt fine but like I said, I'm new to the game so it may not have been right. But i noticed one night that the clutch will sometimes not fully free when the clutch handle is held in all the way so I checked the fluid and sure enough it was basically empty. I filled the resevoir but I know I need to bleed the lines.

Can anyone help me with how this is done? I know how to bleed A clutch, I just need to know how to bleed THIS clutch. Thanks.

 

Its the same as any other hydraulic system...

pump the lever until you build pressure, hold the lever, unscrew the bleed screw, release the air in the system, tighten the bleed screw, release the lever...


Do this a few times (At least twice) until you have good pressure and function at the lever

 

Thanks for the reply, but I don't know where the clutch fluid line goes to. I'm trying to follow it but I lose it underneath the gas tank

More than likely on your bike it is down by the clutch(I don't know your bikes layout specifically)... look for a bleed screw, that really is the only thing it could be by the clutch and a bleed screw



Are you sure the 84 nighthawk has a hydraulic clutch? I know some guys on here have owned that bike

 

Positive that my bike has a hydraulic clutch. I know my buddies 85 nighthawk 450 is a cable clutch and chain driven. My 84 nighthawk 650 is a hydraulic clutch and driveshaft driven

 

Yeah, its hydraulic.

I've done this too... but I can't remember. Just follow the line down and you'll hit the bleeder for it, its right in front of the clutch itself IIRC. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. Took me like 10 minutes to do.

 

I can't seem to get the fluid to flow through the bleeder valve no matter how many times I pump it up

 

The clutch master cylinder will not pump up I don't know what to do

 

where you able to find the clutch line bleeder? if so try using mighty vac brake line bleeder to remove air from clutch line

 

Clutch actuator is on the left side, take the bleeder screw right out and then teflon tape it or else it won’t seal. Have you nothing any leaks coming from the actuator? i had to fix mine last year.
