H23 have Crower Cams 62482-2 Need to know the valve adjustment clearance
When I got my motor back from the machine shop, they gave me a crower cam card (which i cannot find) but i believe the measurements were 8 for intake and 9 for exhaust. Only problem was the card said this was a HOT measurement.
This didn't make sense because the measurements should always been done when the motor is cold for at least 6 hours.
I called crower and they told me that it should be 2 and 3 when its cold. I did 2.5 and 3.5 but its too tight now. Throttle response is more sluggish and it wants to stall when i come to a complete stop and throw it in neutral.
I have a 1995 Honda Prelude with a 2.3L H23 motor in it.
Stock Valves
Bigger Injectors
Wiseco Pistons
almost 12:1 Compression
Crower 62482-2 3/4 Race Cams
Manning Springs and retainers

what kind of measurement is 2.5 and 3.5 and what unit of measurement were the rep at crower using when they said 2 or 3?
the clearance is measured in either inches or millimeters. Are you using feeler gauges?
no spec card i have seen has ever said anything about a hot measurements...

thats waay too tight as you found out. If you can't get a for sure answer from Crower you should be safe with stock .006-.007" intake .007"-.008" exhaust
Thanks for the advice guys. I changed the valve adjustments to .006 and .007. However, this brings up another question. I have had a sound very similar to a valve tap since I have received the motor back from the machine shop. When I tightened the valves to .003 and .004, they were way too tight, however the tapping became less apparent. Whenever I would return the adjustments to the stock measurements, the noise would become louder. The motor has been running for over a year and a half, and it never gets worse, so I know it is not a clearance issue.

Um, did I miss where you said that your engine was tuned for bigger injectors and aggressive street cams?
