swapping blocks shopping list:
i originally posted this on http://www.bayareaprelude.com but thought i'd post it here to get more help.
as some of you know, im swapping a bad h22a4 block for a known good replacement. im going to honda tomorrow where my friend works and im gonna order these parts:
timing belt -
balancer belt - (i heard of balancer delete but i dunno, ill keep it i guess)
manual tensioner - h23 conversion parts
auto tensioner - IF i get lazy from gathering the conversion parts
o rings and seals - for thermostat housing
o rings for the connecting pipe that goes to the thermostat housing
water pump and seals - or i might just say fucc it and leave it alone (im sure its good right dagle)
cam seals -
distributor o ring -
distributor - well im hoping i can get a deal off Dagle
Ignition Control Module and Coil -
valve cover gasket -
head gasket -
head bolts - OEM's are torque to yield right, i checked the service manual and it doesnt mention replacing them but i think you do
crank pulley - i chipped the edge off mine but im hoping i can get a deal off Dagle as well
o ring from oil passage of the #3 camshaft holder - is this really necessary?
heater core hoses - i ended up cutting the old ones off cuz damn i couldnt loosen them up.
front motor mount - i have a pic of the damaged one in featured rides "working on my ride (98 base)"
i gotta swap everything(tranny, head, sensors, etc) from my motor to Dagles motor.
tranny: what should i replace, i was thinking of getting a lighter flywheel
head: mentioned it above, head gasket and head bolts
sensors: im gonna reuse all sensors cuz all of mine were good.
well i just realized that this topic is kinda dumb cuz anything can be mentioned, like new radiator, etc cuz i added distributor to the parts list. i just added this cuz ive always had ignition related problems in the past.
so...basically what other parts that are commonly replaced am i missing for swapping just the block. the two blocks are the same btw, both h22a4. original motor = 86k, new motor was i think 70ish k
