i was going to trade my em1 for an 00 gs-r but the guy said it wont pass smog cause of the o2 sensor and cat. does this sound right?? he also said those are the reasons for the check engine light being on.

 

sounds right...you would have to pull the cel for yourself or at least bein there when he does it to make sure thats the reason...but yea a bad 02 and a bad cat are really big reason why it didnt pass smog so it sounds like he knows what he's talking about...sounds like a simple fix

 

If that's all that's wrong with the car then your should be okay, the cat should be covered by the factory waranty and the o2 sensor is only like $140 bucks at autozone for an oem denso sensor located before the catalytic.
