Two days ago, at night, I turned on my car to take my cousin home (like a one mile trip) and noticed a weird knocking noise under the hood. I figured it was some kind of rattle since there are a few things that rattle in the car.

Yesterday I went to the store in it (about 10 miles at most) and when i was coming back (close to my cousins house actually) and leaving a stop sign I saw the oil light come on and the car shut off. It fired right back up and when I got home I checked the oil. It was barely under the lower hole and I filled it back up. However, the knocking is still there.

Naturally, my first thought was that I spun a rod bearing. But it never really sounded like one. Plus, it seems to be coming from the head. I tried to listen to it close to the block but I still hear it coming from the head. The car does not have any loss in power either.

I have not driven it since then and would like to see if you guys have some ideas that I can look into because I cant think of anything in the head that would make a knocking sound since its not a pinging sound like the valves. Thanks in advance for all your help! I hope I can get it running soon because I need to drive it back to school in about two weeks!!!

 

Never mind!! I am mentally challenged! Just started working on it and it was a loose spark plug! Sooooooooo relieved!!! Gave B16 a big
