I'm going to be taking it to a shop for work, but I want to be sure of what I'm asking before I show up at shops asking for quotes. I've seen it done before, but can't seem to find an example right now. How do you lay paint(silverstone) on carbon fiber and still have the weave shimmer through at certain angles. I'm not talking about holy kevlar or whatever it is.
2nd question: my car was key'd and polishing (rotary buffer) didn't remove it, it does catch my finger nail, was wondering how much a shop would charge. its 6" long.
3rd question: im getting a front bumper painted along with the above jobs at the same time, is the shop going to buff my entire car after the job? or just the parts?
thanks =]

The base color can be diluted w/ clear base to create a translucent effect, color tinted clear base. Similar to the mid coat on a tri stage paint job.
A shop isn't going to buff your whole car for free unless they include or factor the work into the job, basically need to ask. Pricing ranges too much to be accurate, for example Macco price is not comparable to a high end shop price. Generally you get what you pay for.

The only way that I know how to do it, is by painting over it with a "Kandy" Paint.
A "Kandy" paint is a paint that is not one hundred percent opaque. It's transparent. You can see though it, so when you paint a couple of layers of it over something like Carbon fiber, you can see the tint of red for example, and still see the carbon fiber weave underneath.
I don't think you can paint over it any other way without just covering it completely.
Expect a "Kandy" paint job to be significantly more expensive then just regular paint.

This would not be a tri stage kandy type paint job. Partly similar but not the same. This would be done as a 2 stage base/clear. The base color would be a Silverstone color tinted clear base that would allow the CF to be seen through the semi transparent color.
