Default Need help shopping for speakers

So my integra coupe got broken into and a few things jacked. Story short I parted out what was left and I'm stuck with 6.5 mid-bass image dynamic speakers up front and unknown 6.5s in the back. At one point there when I didnt have subs in the car the 4 speakers had no bass once so ever.

With about a $200 budget i'm looking to upgrade these 6.5 to something decent with full range. Looking around, there's no reviews on new coaxial speakers, so I'm pretty much blind to what's out there.

The HU that's going in is 4 x 20 watts RMS. With my budget getting an amp and having to buy wires and all that will probably put me over what I'm willing to spend, though I haven't totally phased out that option.

With all that said, I'm looking for recommendations for 6.5 replacements that'll sound better than stock speakers. Links to websites with good deals would be appreciated.

I have no reviews or in car tests to give you on speakers that will do what you want without an amp. Purchase a 4 channel amp like http://shop2.frys.com/product/...LT_PG (I really don't know if the new PG stuff is any good!!!, especially at $150). Or an alpine for about $200. I thought you had subs before so did you remove the wiring? Well it's about $20-50 for that if needed. So there goes your $200, but should already sound better. Now splurge on some good mids for the front and put the ID's in the back. Nice stereo for about $300. Suggestion for fronts http://www.crutchfield.com/App...avf=N .

This is what I am installing in my 94LS, [hatch]...
http://www.eclipse-web.com/point/sp6910_6510.html
The SP6510s front and rear, with a 4ch amp, either a JL Audio 300/4v2 or an audison LRx 4.5, although out of your price-range at retail locations but the Eclipse can be had at eBay for under $100 a set... http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PAIR-E...wItem and the JL Audio 300/4, [not a 300/4v2] for as little as $100... http://search.ebay.com/search/...o%3D2 probably used.

The SP 6510s will run on 4x20W but will sound much better with 4x75W or more, they are a direct fit for the stock speaker housings with only a miner mod, [cut hole in back of housing for speaker magnet] 94

After looking around I'm thinking about getting alpine 6.5 sps-600c. I like the idea of the built in crossovers for the fronts.

Then stuffing some 6x9s in the rear to get that desired bass. Anyone have any experience in mounting 6x9s in the back possibly with some pictures? I figure I'd mount them in baffles then with some thick 1/4 plastic mount them in there somehow. I'm looking for pictures to get a idea how much work this will take.

Lastly, probably mount a Alpine MRP-F300 under the passenger seat and amp up all 4 speakers.

So new question:
suggestions for 6x9s. (The Alpine amp will be giving 50w RMS at 4 ohms).

funny how my budget nearly doubled.

Does your coup take 6x9s in the rear?

Although not a "true" standard 6.5" speaker, the mounting hole diameter needed is 4-15/16, the stock speaker housing is 5", mounting depth is 2-1/4", the stock housing is 2" but the diameter of the speakers magnet will also have an effect on mounting depth avalable, there are three options to deal with this..

1- Cut a hole in the back of the stock housing the same diameter, [or a little bigger] as the speakers magnet, new mounting screw holes will have to be drilled in the plastic.

2- A better way is to make a depth reducer/spacer, [1/2" - 3/4"] out of MDF, with a 4-15/16" inside diameter and an outside diameter the same, [or a little bigger] as the speakers overall diameter, use the stock speaker as a template for the speaker mounting holes, drill through the depth reducer/spacer and countersink the holes, mount the spacer to the plastic speaker housing using the stock speaker mounting screw holes, use flat head screws so they are flush with the spacers surface, use the Alpine speaker as a template for it's mounting screw holes, and pre-drill them into the MDF spacer.
A gasket made from Dynamat, [or the like] between the plastic housing and the spacer will insure an airtight seal.

3- The best, [for SQ] way is to replace the stock plastic housings with custom MDF housings, not that hard to make if you have basic woodworking skills.
More on that ^^^ if you are going that way. 94

I wouldn't even worry about amping the rear speakers unless you are using them for something other than rear fill.

That will cut down the cost of the amplifier and installation.

I ended up buying most of my stuff from sonicelectronix.com. After getting a $400 HU jacked after a few months of use, I ended up getting something less flashy that I'll be amping up anyways. My Iphone has the GPS and my music so I was even considering a tape deck for kicks...

About custom mounting 6x9s... well I haven't gotten around to pulling the old 6 1/2s out of the back, so I don't know if the previous owner had modified the original speaker mounts. The 6x9s are here though, and I have speaker baffles, whether to use or just to get an idea of how much clearance I'll need in order to mount the 6x9s.

fcm, give me some ideas, I haven't found **** about mounting 6x9s into a integra coupe. I'll probably post a writeup somewhere when I'm done.

The 97 Integra coup came with stock 6.5" in the rear, I do not recommend installing 6x9s as cutting the rear deck will compromise structural integrity and can result in leaking rear window seal.

Also, a properly mounted 6.5" speaker will outperform a an improperly mounted 6x9 speaker, in fact if proper mods, [extensive work] are not done, the stock speakers will outperform the 6x9s. 94

Do the eclipse sp6510 components come w/ an internal crossover? What are some of the best components that come with an internal crossover?
