what kind of setup do you guys recommend when going turbo
wanting good powerband and good drivability. small vs large turbines

I'd say the easiest way is to just buy a Turbo kit.

Most come with reasonably sized Turbos, so you can still be "streetable". DRAG or F-Max make Lude kits which I hear are pretty nice.

You plan on any internal modifications?

 

What Brian said is exactly right. Be prepared to drop some cash for a good turbo set up.
If you don't know much about turbos just pick up a kit and upgrade it as you need to.
