got rear disc conversion parts, have a few questions
ok well, i just got back from the junk yard, got da rear discs/trailing arms. got the ebrake cables too...everything i need except somebody ganked the calipers.
i got all the rear disc parts, a 15/16 mc, and a driver side crx si knuckle..m(ine was a da knuckle and made my susp. funky) for 37 dollars! did i get lucky or what.
ok can i put crx calipers on the da trailing arms? are they the same. theyre all exspensive as hell new. i know the cables are too long for the crx, but ive heard of people making them work, anybody know how? also, do i need the brake booster from the da to work with the mc? its non abs. i didnt even think to look at the prop valve so il get that later.
i think thats it...anybody happen to be selling rear calipers with the brackets???
one more...are the crx and integra rear hub bearings the same or no?

crx and integra calipers are the same. you would have to find a way to hide all the extra length of the e-brake cables. the ends should be the same. and i think you need the booster as well. the hubs should be the same too. i usually check autozone.com or napaonline.com and look the stuff up. look at one and write down the part #'s and then check the other one. that way i don't have to deal with the idiot behind the counter.
yeah i get on napa alot i was just seeing if anybody knew off hand. i can get on napa and sign in through my work and get napas prices
hha...the calipers were still like 88 bucks a piece with a 100 dollar core! i dont even think they came with the brackets. i can get the crx ebrake cables for 20 bucks a piece i wonder if its worth messing with the teg cable...is there some way to cut it and join the 2 piece back together? i know they make something like that to use in construction when you use braided steel cables but i havnt had any luck finding it... thanks!

I have this same complete swap but not yet installed. Are the Integra e - cables gonna be a bit long? compare to the crx stock one.

the teg cables will be longer. just think about the differences in the wheelbase between the 2.

most of the calipers they sell now are loaded calipers. they come with everything, some even come with new pads.

i think it would be more of a mess to try and cut and splice the cable. you have the inner braided steel line and then the outer jacket to deal with. if they are only 20 bucks each, i would just go with them. you got the rest of it for a steal, whats 40 bucks added to the total.
just to add some extra info, you don't have to stick with just the teg or crx calipers. i have 95 civic ex discs on the back of my hatch. the calipers are almost identical. the only difference is the direction the hose comes off in. if you see one of those in the junkyard, you could take the brackets and calipers and use them for cores or use them yourself. just make sure you take the hoses.

im not so much worried about the price of the calipers, but its the core...i dont have them so i will have to pay the core. unless i just give them calipers off something else...prob shouldnt do that though. ill look for a civic next time i go. o one more thing...when i get new hoses should i get crx or integra or are they the same. im just going to get braided hoses since im getting all new stuff. and yeah ill just buy the cables, will be nice to have actual new parts on my car haha, its been a while.

the rear hoses are the same, but i think the fronts will differ. get the ones that say they fit the crx. i've got a set of calipers that i don't need. the problem is, i don't have brackets. which makes them useless as cores. i'm pretty sure it says you need the bracket to get the core charge back.
well i never give them the cores back...they never charge me for it, they charge my work because they just put it on a cash ticket to my work in my name so i get napa's price. but its usually cheap stuff ya know, not 100 dollar a piece haha. they woudlnt even know if the mounts wern't there.
another thing i forgot to mention...i just put some energy susp. trailing arm bushings in my other ones, never even drivin on cuz my car doesnt run but thats a dif story. but i thought about taking them out and putting them in the new ones, but i dont know if it would be too safe you know? damnit i dont want to spend any more money than i have to.

im trying to think of what else i can do for my brakes...ive been looking around at the junkyard for accord wagons and stuff to do the big brakes up front for cheap but im having no luck. the fittings in my stock prop valve are seized so im kinda scared to mess with it right now. im doing my new motor in jan. and redoing all my hard lines while my motor is out so i might have to wait untill then to do it...damnit...nm im rambling ... too many
i swaped mine out of an old pair of trailing arms i had laying around. the hardest part was cleaning all the old rubber off the parts. i hit the bushing with a rubber mallet and they came out without any real damage. just some scrapes around the edges.
did you have the 2 piece ones or the insert? i got the 2 piece bushing with the aluminum mount. ive heard good and bad about those but i duno. ive also been thinking about just getting the spearical bearing ones...but i will be doing some dd'ing. 3 miles to work and back, maybe a carshow or meet here and there, and to and from races...dont have a trailor or truck yet. and im scared to drive around with idiots everywhere that cant drive. would hate to see all my hard work go to waste by someone else, if i total it at a race its completely worth it haha.
oh and i put that bushing in with a bearing press. not a real press but the one where you put the cup on the outter race and have the other piece on the back and use the bolt and nut...that kind haha. it was easy, ive always wondered why people say it was so hard...

yeah e-brake cables should fit perfect... n you will need da brake prop.valve from a DA.. if not ur front brakes will lock on an emergency stop...dont need da booster..i did da same swap n still keept my sotck booster n mc.. n for pinks11^^^ u probalby routed da cables in a different place...
About the prop valve, I got one off a DC. The trailing arms and ebrake cables are from a DC as well. Do I HAVE to get one from the DA or will the DC 4040 wrok fine??
