you would need:
Y8 sohc vtec head (bolts up perfectly, no dist problems)
I believe any 92-00 fpr
cam gear
timing belt from a 92-95 civic (I believe, will be tight)
many misc gaskets
head bolts (ARP are best)
there are other things but i can't remember!

Here's some info: geocities.com/chipman_13/mini-me-parts.html
www.geocities.com/crx288/d16z6swap.html

Those are the only ones' i can think of for now!

Man, just have patience and just wait till you get the money. I mean how long will you have to vtec head on? A year or less? Just wait it out and get a good engine when your financially secure.

Not to sound degrading or anything, but that GS-R in the handbook was build balenced and designed by prof. engine builders... Do you think your up to it ? Everything in that motor was built to the mack daddy spec, that motor is prob. worth about $10,000 after parts labor, install, and drivetrain to handle it.. But if you think you can do it, go for it, and if you succeed, good job...

Y8 head and apexi Vafc, take your old head off, put the new one in, run a wire from the Vtec solinoid to the controllor and filler up with 93+ oct. and your a lot faster...

WOW, a true believer in 450HP+ reliable honda... 4g63 or sr20det for that kinda power

+ 450HP

It's "only" going to be 20-25hp, unless you or a friend have a spare head it's not going to be worth it since you will be swapping it out anyway.

Keep your stock head on there and work with that... Theres A LOT more involved in a minime setup than people think. Cheap? yes. Reliable? Dont count on it. Fast? Tuning is a bitch.. power gains are minimal. If you do decide to do it and get past all the headaches and CEL codes.. kudos youre one of few.
Id say buy another d16a6 head, milled, port n polish, cam, ecu.. and youll be happy.

if you want serious power...go LS/VTEC or CRV-TEC...and as for your honda handbook or whatever...I'm glad it helps but remember that if it had a book written on it, everything in there cost a lot of money...I'd just save and get a whole swap...they are easier than the frankenstein ones...and more reliable...good luck on your 450 hp...(snicker, snicker)

Dude, I've got the same book. Go do some "research" on how much money that motor cost, and how much tuning they did to get it done right. I've read that book, been on here for almost a yr, on CRXperf and D-Series and I know that doing a mini-me won't get you to 450 whp, no way. Now, if yon run, say 2-3 bar/pressure through your T66 on Darton sleeves, and a perfectly balanced bottom end, yea. Ok, maybe not that drastic, but do you get the idea? Turbo'd mini-me at 200whp after tuning, sure. But over 400, nah.

he never said he wanted the minime to go to 450... he was talking about the b18. The minime is actually a very good upgrade for anyone with an Si engine. I had some sweet times with my minime. I was never really done with it, but it ran very fast for some time. My setup was very simple too d16z6 head, a6 block, si tranny, intake, exhaust, cam gear(-6), wires, +4 bosch plugs, vtec engaged at 5200 rpm. The biggest hassle was the ingnition timing. I always had my distributor on really bad, I was still using the obd0 setup, and it was mounted very sloppy. The car pulled very hard, and once it hit vtec there was a nice jerk in power all the way to redline. It actually pulled much better then my friends 92 hatch with b16, but I think it migh have been his setup. But then once I converted to obd1, the car completely changed. The obd1 ecu doesnt have the agressive fuel maps, so it pulled less. And the fact that vtec now engaged at 4500 rpm, slowed things down as well. I dont see why everyone is making the minime seam so complicated and expencive. All you need is the head, the gaskets, timing belt, and a rpm switch. Installation takes no more then 3 hours. And the difference worth the 150-200 youre gonna spend on it all.

The minime setup is by no means expensive.. It easy to do too. Its the fine tuning that goes into it that is the problem. Its no problem to get it up and running, but it will always feel like its lacking if you dont tune it right. Youre mixing and matching a setup that honda never intended... I would say just buy the whole d16z6 motor.

If you decide that you want to go for the minime setup.. then i would suggest the FULL obd-1 conversion.. e.g. injectors, distrib, fpr, ecu, intake manifold all the corresponding parts. The pm6 ecu just doesnt have the fuel mapping to compensate for the lower profile of the primary lobes and the higher lift and longer duration profile of the vtec lobes.. the p28 is better.. The 88-91 injectors are also different (peak and hold), as opposed to the 92-up (saturated). With all that in place... if you can get your distrib to line up correctly.. then you should be set. Granted you take care of ALL the codes that you might be throwing and you dont have any knocking or pinging..
