What do you guys think?
DISCLAIMER: "I'm am not promoting street racing. When in need for speed, take it to the track!"
Story: When I was in class yesterday, I heard people chit chatting behind me about the new gen Si. Since I owned the car they were gossiping about,
the least I could do was eavesdrop . While turning around to join in the conversation I accidentally interrupted a scrawny Caucasian insulting the Si.
Here's what he said in short, vaguely quoting him, " The Si is an economic car, slow *** hell with pathetic torque."
I said to him the si isn't fast, but it's quick for what it is. I continued saying that if you compare the si to other N/A 4-banger, it's quite impressive.
Him: "Dude, trust me I smoked the Si on daily man, it's a fu*king slow car... people that drive si think they're the ****. They run like what? 16s?"
Me: Listen, it depends what are you comparing to; Yes it is slow when you are comparing it's 1/4 mile with an evo or sti, and those 1/4 times are slow comparing to my gsxr.
Him: All I'm saying is the Si and riced-out civics are slow. **** how fast is your bike?
Me: umm 1/4 mile around 9-10s.
Him: Dang that's fu*kin fast. I just hate civics, and the people driving them that think they can smoke everyone. Any day of the week, I'll eat civics for breakfast in my v6.
Me: (Thinking to myself, he probably drives a camero or mustang, or something similar) What's your ride?
Him: 1999 Accord LX V6
Me: Stock?
Him: Ya.
Me: Stick?
Him: no.
Me: (My gf drives a 2001 accord I4 auto, and I drove it before, thinking to myself how fast can the v6 be?) Dude...then there's no way you will smoke the 2006+ Si. I have a 2007 si,
you want to run it?
Him: Your car stock?
Me: Yes.
Him: *laughing* Let's do it, I'm getting paid this friday, how about 700?
I agreed and we shook hands. :thumb: We will be drag racing the 1/4 mile on Sat at the Pomona Raceway.
After researching online about the specs of the Accord, The accord has more hp and torque , hehe to be honest I'm nervous. Since his car is automatic he's probably going
to launch it by holding his car still with the brakes, and gassing it. Thus his torque converter will be whined up and ready to go; once the lights turn green he releases the brakes,
and off he goes. Is the v6 much faster than the i4? Both Auto.
What do you guys think? Sure win or anyone's race?

Why is this in the Road Racing/Autocross forum?
Drag Racing forum or even All Motor would be more appropriate.
That said....
I'm not a betting man, so the idea of losing $700 in a grudge match kinda makes my skin crawl. But since you're in LA and have some time on your hands, a short trip down to Church Auto Motive testing for a Hondata ECU reflash (http://hondata.com/reflash_06_civicsi.html) would really help your odds. And your winnings would pay for the upgrade...

Lol, silly. 4 door cars are for carrying people around.
But since you are going to the race track, my experience says that it will be a real close race. Your car is slightly faster than his, but its so close, that there are too many other variables to say who will be the sure winner.
Honestly, I'm sure you can just laugh at him for taking a 4 door automatic to the race track. If you get in his head he might mess up at the lights.
But if you really want to race that economy sedan, go find an scca event where you can actually practice your driving skills.
Although cheating is always an option...
