Well my car was wrecked back in February and I am just now getting some free time to work on it.

So before my computer crashes again and I lose all my pics I figured I would show them off here
here is how is showed up after the body shop tried to steal my parts

So I picked up a JDM front end and put it on a few months ago.















putting it all together

 

I moved it to my composites shop and tarted the whole sanding process






holy carbon roofs!!!!!!!!!!


Now I am just deciding whether or not to put a carbon or kevlar roof on. haven't decided yet but I made 3 to see how they all would look









I have done a little more sanding since these pictures were taken and will hopefully finish it up very soon

 

I can't wait for the final result

p.s. I'm not a fan of CF roofs and I would just leave it alone

yeah pretty sure I have decided against them

they look cool sitting on the ground though

I thought that to myself too, but I wish the OP the best while finishing the process. Looks like an interesting job, is it mainly automotive or everything composite in general?

actually it's now automotive only I used to make motorcycle parts

I own my own company but am getting my masters in composite engineering and that takes up most of my time right now. but my thesis is with wind turbine blades, not as cool as Type R parts though.

Are they all made by you , Or are they copied/replicated form those roof's that already exist and dont line up , ?
I dont like them , BUT if your makinga one of piece , and it fits PERFECT , then that would be cool !!

Nice work , I remember reading the nightmare you had a few mos back , that sucked and is why my car is all dinged and scratched , i dont trust shops

yes all the roofs are made by me personally (well, and my girl)

No they actually fit, and I have been working on them since February. It took 3 times making the mold to get it right.

I modify the existing roof to make it slightly larger so that when the roof cap sits on it, it fits perfectly.
the first few I made didn't fit so I would go remake the mold to be a little larger, then try again.
I have it right now, finally ,several thousand dollars later



these roofs here do not fit and are now decorations in my composite shop. they are hanging from the ceiling and on the walls.
that's why I said they look pretty

and I really don't trust shops now either

 

 

niterida, you should make hatches instead of roofs. I would buy a composite hatch that saves weight from you any day!

I have been kicking around the idea lately

I saw one at a shop the other day and picked it up and was shocked how heavy it was. Definitely a fiberglass reinforced heavy show piece
