Default Opinions on AEM V2

I've been looking around and realize that N/A gains on our cars is minimal. However, the AEM is reasonably priced and I've seen some power gains on the dyno with it.

In comparison to say J's racing, how does it stack up?

i would say search, but the search feature on here has not been doing it's job lately.

For the money, i think it is worth it. The j's is pricey, plus i doubt there is a big difference in power gains. I would say the intake for adds, at the most, 5hp. You will prob not notice the gain, but the sound will be better.

i am intoxicated at the moment but i think my advice works

I've heard 8-9hp gains but those aren't firmly documented. AEM had claimed a 8hp gain for a while....but I think they took that down?? IIRC, their website was redesigned.

It works great for me. It seems to have helped the top end. It also makes a rad whistling noise.

If you do decided to pick one up, look for one used. People are selling them all the time for around 100-150$.

I noticed that. In fact, when I did search...the only thing that came up was for sale threads. If I can find one for cheap I figure I'll go ahead and do it.

The factory intake on the S2000 is VERY well designed. It also acts as a deflector for the hot air coming off the back of the radiator. I personally recommend a K&N factory replacement filter, stock airbox mod, and a snorkel.

I personally got the K&N FIPk and I do like it plus I don't have to worry about hydrolock. The only problem is that it sucks air from the engine bay rather than by the bottom of the bumper so most people buy some sort of cooling plate.

Also consider adding some "rad mat" as seen here:

This is basically bubble wrap, wrapped in aluminum foil. They use it on heater pipes and what not. It can be found at most hardware stores.

The AEM is a good bang for the buck unlike a lot of other JDM intakes that are over a grand... for little to no power improvement

i had a v2 and can't recommend it. power gains were minimal to nonexistent, it drew far too much attention when i got on it, and the engine bay looked like ****.

did it sound like a joke? it is my opinion, which i am entitled to, which makes your post pretty much worthless. to answer your worthless post: 1) too much attention from other people on the road. 2) too much attention as opposed to stock. 3) yes, god forbid that.

1) attention from other people on the road means that your smashing on the gas. If you drive normal, the V2 barely makes anymore noise.

2) Do you drive around without a hood, how does it get more attention opposed to stock ?? It is after all just an intake.

Im not trying to be an *** either dude. But your post doesnt make sense

It makes perfect sense. Is it not a sports car? It is, which means I hit the pedal to the floor now and then. When I did, the V2 intake made a good bit more noise than the stock intake... Sound draws attention. Do you seriously want to claim you drive your S2000 like you would a Prius? If you do, what's the point of adding MAYBE 2hp? If you're wanting to start on a "take it to the track" tirade, don't bother, I'm an instructor.

Im with you on that, I do smash on it every once in a while, if people say that 9 out of 10 are lying

I think that intake is just something that people want cause its something easy to do and cheap compared to most of the other mods for the S.

Like I said I wasn't trying to beef with you over this

How is the fitment?
From what I remember this particular intake (or is it all CAIs?) requires a bit of trimming to the bumper?

Not the fender from what I remember, but the fender liners.
