d2 lower sleeve stuck.. what to do?
i took the d2's off my ek and am trying to swap the rear lower mounts to put them in my integra. i got one side off no problem, but the other side is basically frozen. i got the locking collar off, but the lower mount itself won't budge. what to do? i can't think of any way to mount it in a vice.
if you put it in a vice, use aluminum plates and grip the collars and not the threaded body. Then put a thick screw driver through the holes and use a rubber mallet to break the lower mount loose. If its seized up like that though, chances are the threads on the lower mount are toast.
Try heating up the collar slightly with a torch, and every few seconds with protective gear try spinning it off. The heated metal with expand and may crack the rust making impossible to snap.
