Default Type S swap into a base rsx.....(yes I searched)

I have a coworker with a dead 02 rsx.

Instead of putting an a3 back in it, we're debating to go with the full type-s swap (Hmotorsonline swap purchase).

I know everything simply bolts right up, but what else is needed? I'm GUESSING wiring is the main difference.

I'm pretty familiar with the ef-eg chasis, and a little with the ep3, but this is my first venture into the rsx chasis.

Any help and input is appreciated.

EP3 = RSX. As far as specific wiring differences from base to Type S, that I don't know.

But, not sure I'd want to spend $4K + for a swap into a base model. You certainly won't get that back out of it if you decide to sell.

Base motors can be had cheap, too. Why not just get it running then sell and actually get a Type S if that's what he wants.

The Type S swap into a base RSX isn't a bad idea.

The Base model's insurance is much cheaper compared with the Type S. However it doesn't have all of the nice options the S does.

The A3 and A2 engine harnesses are interchangeable, so you shouldn't have any issues with that. You will however have to have the ECU reflashed by Acura.

Since the immobilizer is active, you must have the key and the ECU's transponder code matched.

The other alternative to this would be to use a KPRO.

You cannot use the Type S axles due to the different hub sizes between them... (base axles will work fine)

Everything else is pretty much a bolt in deal. Make sure you get the primary oxygen sensor from the A2 as well.

Here is how to that I made to swap an a2 into an ep. Should be very similar to swap into a base. http://www.ephatch.com/forum/s...43806

The engine harnesses are interchangeable but if you want reverse gear lockout (you do), use the a2 harness. You need your immolibilzer reprogrammed by Acura (~$50) and use the a2 ecu.

Otherwise I have a complete low mileage 2002 k20a3 I'd sell cheap...
