Default h23 swap?

My buddy has an H23 with an auto tranny and he is wanting to put it in either a crx or a hatch. Just curious if anybody has done this and if it's harder than any other swaps?

yes h-series swaps have been done in an ef chassis, and yes they are also harder than a b-series. They're a good bit larger and take up more engine room, of which is already very minimal to begin with. the alt. has to be relocated. and it won't even begin to fit underneath a stock hood.

The auto tranny if he's planning on keeping it will remove the possibility of running one of the off the shelf mount kits and will take even more work.

It's not terribly hard to do a H swap but it's not the easiest either.

instructions.

The auto tranny is quite large and will probably be a stumbling block. Anything can be done however.

might as well just sell the h23 and get a h22. if hes gunna spend all that hard work on the swap he might want a lil more hp.

You also have to have good suspension and axles since the H-serise are heavy.

here we go..the weight comment.

They aren't a whole lot heavier than a b series. people talk like an h series is an iron diesel block going in. far from true.

Roughly 50 lbs last I'd heard, so no, not much.

If he was smart he would keep the h23 bottom end and get an H22 head. GET RID OF THE AUTOMATIC!!
