Ls/Vtec headgasket w/ B18b Bottom & B18c head?

Ls/Vtec headgasket w/ B18b Bottom & B18c head?
Still learning this whole LS/VTEC deal, I checked a few websites.. most say use the B18a/b head gasket and reposition the dowls, is that really neccassary? Could I use the B18c factory headgasket and use those dowls? or will they not align in the block?
any info on this subject would be great.
