Default How To Tune Suspension?

02 f4i I'm just wondering the significance of the suspension adjustments and where they are located so I can begin experimenting

Remember to note your changes in a book or some paper. It will be a quick and easy reference when you need it.

awesome guide but it wasn't very specific on the pillon details, should i have two settings written down, one for pillons and one for just me or is adding the female on the back as simple as increasing the preload?

Having two seperate settings written down is a good idea. In reality though, you probably aren't riding super aggressively with a passenger or heavy load in place and could get by with simply increasing the preload for the trip.

I believe compression is adjusted via the adjuster on the bottom of the forks with a flat head. And the rebound is located on the top of the forks that is adjusted with a flat head screwdriver as well. And the preload is adjusted with an open ended wrench (i forget the size, 12mm?) or a crescent wrench where the rebound adjuster is located.

The rear has the same type of adjusters but located on the reservoir and the bottom of the shock itself. Look on reputable sites with common setups for your weight then adjust to what you think is needed.

I'm not an expert but hopefully this helps.

i'm sure it's been noted in the 600rr link, but setting sag is the most important first step. without properly set sag, any number of dial turning will just get you more lost.

set sag to 25-30mm and work from there. iirc, on the rear shock rebound is on the bottom of the shock, and compression is on the reservoir.

the stupid preload collar on the f4i shock makes it hard to set precise sag, but getting it close is better than nothing.

i'd suggest getting a baseline done by a suspension pro, and adjusting from there.

Here is a great link for suspension tuning, this will give you everything you need to know about the subject:
http://www.sportrider.com/tech....html

This link gives you presets based on an avg. rider weight of 150lbs. I believe. I used these settings on my 01 f4i and it was night and day different than what the previous owner had and I only made 1/4 or 1/2 turns here and there. After that you can experiment but make sure to WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN.

Good luck and have fun.

Since im not a pro racer, and I will probably never notice any diference, i wanted a more or less, "You weigh so much, you setup suspension like this". And just leave it at that until I get better and actually feel the diference.

Kind of like this, but there is no 93' F2 on the list.

Plus, no pro suspension tuners in venezuela that I know of.
