Are your headlights glass or plastic?

They are plastic.

OP, you can try buffing with polishing compound. Unfortunately, the paint may have stained the plastic deeply.

i do tons of retrofits and i always buy high beam painted headlights. All i do is use 1500 then 2000 grit wet sand paper. It takes a while but it comes off. Then after all the yellow is off, i have some UV resistant clear coat i spray on, and that keeps the hazing from ever coming back and makes them look like a babies butt :D

I have done it many times, always with great success.

or.

i have a pair of 98+ headlights (that were never painted), i will trade you and ill just do the work. It's no big deal. Mine have nothign wrong with them. I'm not using them so might as well help you out. No .
