B16 build Q's
ok i have a 1st gen b16 that im going to be building for my crx...It is going to be a "weekend/track" car....I will be driving to work and back everyday but its less that 4 miles round trip...here is my list of mods that i want done.
stock block
ctr/01 itr cams
Aem Cam gears
new oem water & oil pump
dual springs and retainers (not sure what brand yet)
itr TB and IM (or have my stock TB and Im ported)
98 itr header with 2.5 exhaust (custom)
Aem fuel rail with B&M regulator
new injectors (not sure what size yet)
Convert to obd1
hondata s100 or s200
new clutch (not sure which one yet) and lightweight flywheel
quaife LSD
Ok i know that it wont be a torque monster but i just want to have hopefully around 170 hp after a good tune.. As for the TB and Im i have heard good and not so good things about them on a B16...With this setup should it be ok or is it better to reuse my stock TB and Im and have them port matched?? Also what is a good set of dual valve springs to use with the type r cams? Money is not an issue i am willing to pay to play. And finally, what size and brand injectors should i use? thanks for any input or suggestions you may have...i am open for as much info as i can get before i go out and spend money.

honda tech is like a digital camera, to get the picture you have to press the big red button on the top at the right...
try searching the countless b16 builds and quit worrying about what other people think...
not trying to flame but you should already know the deal...

ive tried searching for my specific questions and i mostly get for sale threads....I just want to know mainly about the IM / TB question...i dont need to search tons of builds when someone can verify one way or the other if it will make more power than the stock parts would...im trying to keep it as oem as possible. Searching on honda-tech can be like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes if you have specific questions and trying to search through "countless" builds to find the answer
a b16 in itself with a good setup on i/h/e and itr valvetrain in a b16 with the right tune has yielded 200whp. chances are noone is going to have the same setup exactly as you, and nobody for sure will be running the same map as you after a tune. but if you're having to ask these questions about how much power you're wanting to create, prepare for disaster. now i say again, go back and do your homework because you are asking some generalized questions like theres a dynograph of your car from the future in my brain that tells me what power "X" parts makes.
I agree with "nskforlife" on this. If there is nothing wrong with the condition of the motor i would just add to it. The items you mentioned are very simple. They are not all needed. My setup that is listed below is run in my 96 coupe everyday. With the current tune i get about 25-28mpg. The b16 manifold is the best over all manifold for daily driving. I have tried a larger tb and skunk manifold. The power with the skunk manifold was great, but low end power was lacking. I have experimented alot. Any questions, let me know!!!
i just wanted to know if its better to use a type r manifold and tb to accomidate the cams ill be putting in and the type r header....i figured if its getting more air then it should make more power.....if the stock manifold and TB are better then thats just money ill be saving...i just wanted to know if it would give me any gain at all with any similar setup....i would be willing to take a loss down low if the high rmp power will make up for it....im not asking if its going to make x power i just wanted to know if it is an improvement even if its small....as you can see im not trying to build a race motor just a nice enjoyable ride with a little power....please elaborate how i am asking for disaster when im asking for advice before hand on what would be the best route for me to take...if i was asking for disaster i would just go out and buy a victor x manifold for my stock b16 and watch my money go down the drain.
i know what power i wll create that's not the issue....like i said NSK i just want to know if they are worth getting to make even just a little more power out of my 1.6 after a tune of course....i appreciate the help....i am leaning towards keeping my stock manifold but if someone has any additional info or input i'd appreciate it...
and one more thing quickdx, what did you mean if there is nothing wrong with the motor to add to it??? that is kind of confusing unless im reading it wrong
