i bought a new oil pump from honda so i could shim and port it and throw it on my y8. i need to take off the cover so i can get inside of it, but all the screws must be loctited, how the hell can i get them off?

-Oil pressure is high enough at stock. Additional pressure only increases parasitic losses and strain to components. Increase the flow volume for better lubrication!
-You keep talking about enlarging. That's completely wrong point. You don't want big ports, you want ports flowing smoothly with big radiuses. Yes, additional volume on some places is helpful, but we'd like to have such of passages at close to constant diameter/area, and changes should happen with smooth, shallow tapers
-Shapes of ported ports are wrong.. I see lots of abrupt changes in shapes.

 

um .. alrite well i bought the pump so i could get it flowing better by porting it, ppl spin bearing on y8s b/c our pumps suck, so how can i get the screws loose on the back?

 

if indeed they were loctited then you have a serious problem as only a wrench that doesn't slip off the head or heat will remove them,probably both. heat will soften the loctite, but will also tend to melt the timing cover etc.

 

use a wrench and a socket with a phillips head for more leverage

 

well everyone i got them out using an impact driver .. which is a really awesome tool btw. it ended up stripping the **** out of one of the already stripped screws .. but since u hit w/ the hammer it just dug the bit into the screw and got it out anyway .. super baller tool

 

I have been looking for high volume oil pump. It seem to me that there is some confusion by some people between volume and pressure. more than 1 site has said to "shim" the pump with a washer. this is crap. the only place you can possibly add a washer is in the relief valve spring. you can get more pressure at high speed but so what? inside the pump ALL clerances are less than .009 and it would be impossible to shim succesfully. if you coulde it would not increase the volume because the gears would still be the same size.
