Could not having vtec in my ecu thro a check engine light?

Could not having vtec in my ecu thro a check engine light?
i just did a gsr swap back into my gsr chassis but do not have any of the vtec components in my ecu. Could that be throwing a light considering the vtec plugs for the motor are plugged in??

GSR= VTEC

GSR= VTEC
