Default Rode an AMA 1000.

A good friend is friends with Ben Thompson and he picked up a few of his old bikes so I took one for a little ride. Really fun bike it is a GSXR 1000 and it put down around 185 to the rear wheel. For those of you that dont know him he races AMA in the superbike class with Ben Spies, Jamie Hacking, Matt Mladin etc. Brakes were really nice and the tires were sticky. My friend wants me to start going with him on track days under the "you break it you buy it clause" I can ride the bike but I have my own 1000 so I am not sure as to what I want to do. I do know that I hardly ever ride my bike on the streets anymore though. Too dangerous here in Miami. If anything I would be better off fixing race fairings as opposed to dropping a factory bike but I hate riding other peoples bike with that feeling in the back of my head. I think I would be holding back a little on his bike...but its a bad machine.

A 750 track bike in the background that my friend laid down at the track. Side note... nice tune on the 1000 the power was insanely smooth from down low all the way up.

More importantly I might be going to watch Ben race and then the Moto GP race in Indy. They have a section in the tower apparently. Only thing is I will be in school but Moto GP weekend vs studying. humm...

I think quite a few of the backmarkers run Superstock spec machines in the Supebike class

Only true superbikes are Yoshimura Suzuki, Monster Kawasaki, Factory Yamaha, and American Honda. Jordan Suzuki fields its own Superbike as well.

-the tower? you mean the pagoda suites? not saying that it isn't entrely out of bounds, but during the F1 race/the 500/brickyard.....its WAY off limits to anyone. armed guards, dogs with bees coming out of their mouths. yeah, its pretty exclusive.

Sorry maybe it is super stock class. Looking back I would assume superbike class is totally re worked bikes shocks, brakes, etc. 70,000 bikes easily...not this bike. Secondly, I said "apparently" when speaking about sitting in the tower. Those were however direct words from my friends mouth. Either way the bike was pretty sweet and heading out to Indy would be even sweeter. Save all the speculative drama for another thread I have been out of this forum for a little so any of you guys have track bikes? race? want to try to race?

$70,000 bike? Looks closer to maybe $20,000 including cost of the bike...

I'm sorry but I'm not very good at reading poor English blog speak. Write in properly worded sentences and it'll be easy to understand. So what I misread. Want a [freak]ing cookie?

Hey now. Don't get all pissy at me because you can't read English unless Shakespeare wrote the ****.

And as a matter of fact it would be nice if I could get a [freak]ing cookie. Oatmeal raisin. Dammit.
