Because yellow light, is generally the best kind of light...

I was considering getting a set of 3000k HID's for my high beams as well when I run into some extra cash

So your high beams will take 50 seconds to warm up when the deer that you can't see is only 5 seconds away.

Where did you come up with that 50 second time? I'm curious...
Generally speaking from the HID kits I have seen, there is light output immediately. It may take a few seconds to fully warm up but I personally don't see that as being an issue. Which kit are you talking about that takes almost a min before the light comes on?

I was exxagerating. Most aftermarket HID kits do take a significant amount of time to warm up, though.

The light output before they wam up is dismal. The light starts getting better and better as it warms up. The yellow HIDs seem to take a REAL long time for whatever reason. They're just 5k bulbs with a yellow coat on them.

I dont understand the point of yellow brights. Do they look rad to the people you're blinding by leaving them on? Do you step out of the car and go "wow...those yellow brights sure do look nice"?

Oh wait. It's one of those "to each their own..and mod it because it's YOUR car. Do what YOU want" deals.

Well seeing as there high beam's, i didn't intend on anyone actually EVER seeing them. The whole point is so I can see as much as possible when I am driving at night and no one else is around

Do you show off you high beams to all your friends at the parking lot meets? lol

You are criticizing the OP (and myself) by suggestion we would be installing these for looks and to "show off to our friends" when in fact we just want to be able to see as best as possible at night, when no one else is around. (that is the point of the high beams after all)

Take note that the OP was asking about comparison of "light output" not the look of the car with the lights on.

lol don't get so mad dude. I was jking around.

I just dont see how the yellow HID brights would put out more light. I was just being sarcastic.

I would never criticize anyone on Honda Tech. Every decision comes out to "It's MY car and I dont care what ANYONE says." Criticizing the decision would be a carnal sin.

joking or not, you make yourself sound/look like a tool.

in the s2k, i hardly ever use my highbeams. why? im not sure... maybe i'm lazy, maybe because the HID's are bright enough for me.

i live on flat-*** nj, so deers' eyes light up with the regular lights... its not like i'll never miss one because of the height/distance of the light.

furthermore, i want yellow because the hids/brights SUCK in rain/fog... and i don't want to put fogs on my car.......

so, using context clues... we can deduct:
i dont use my highs.
i want fog light style light.

What is the simple solution there? put yellow bulbs in my highs. ta-da.

oh, and to whoever called me ricer....hum on my coin purse.

HMMMM

1. to mr op and mr white smoke: he said AMBER in his original post, which is orange, NOT yellow

2. i highly doubt you started this thread from a functional perspective. i suspect that you changed to this viewpoint once we all said this was ridiculous, and when white smoke defended you, you figured it was cop out to make yourself look like less of an idiot

just my 2 cents for your coin purse gheybait

So your idea is that as long as brights are yellow or amber, they will work better in the fog than regular brights.

Are you retarded?

a HIDkit used as a highbeam will equate to EPIC FAIL.

the HIDbulbs light up to salt, which is heated up to a certain temperature to emit light. they use more volts when starting up (to get to the temperature quicker) than it would use at a steady rate. so if you keep firing up your HIDs, ur overloading the salts. your bulb lifespan will be shortened unless if you're a retard leaving your high beams on. /thread

Why don't you just buy the yellow foglight? Wouldn't that make your car look better also? I think putting HID on a highbeam sound stupid. It will blind oncoming traffic unless it has a cutoff shield, but I don't recall that S2000 have dual projectors.

ANY bright will blind oncoming traffic if left on. Dual projectors...whatever. I dont think he was planning on leaving the brights on around oncoming traffic. But then again, he did think that putting yellow bulbs inside of the brights housing would make them magically be foglights.

The OP is misguided. He thinks that yellow brights will blind him less in the fog than his projector HIDs simply because they're yellow and yellow magically doesn't reflect off of water particles.

His logic is flawed because:
1.) his ridiculous idea is that just because brights are yellow, they will not blind you in fog and they will blind you less than the stock projector HIDs. Even if this were true...the projectors stay on with the brights on.
2.) Brights blind you in fog not because of the color they are. They blind you because they go up high and reflect back at you off the water particles in fog.
3.) Projector HIDs are going to be better at cutting thru fog than auxillary foglights because they focus the beam very well.

He also thinks that the act of putting yellow bulbs in his brights will make them just like foglights.

Wrong. They will still aim upwards just like the regular *** brights. They'll just be yellow.

actually human eyes see better in the dark with yellow light vs white light under the same situation

nothing wrong with hid in high beam but i wouldn't do it without knowing how long a hid will last if you flash people with it vs having it on most of the time

christ you're an idiot b serious.

1. brights dont stay on when coming at other cars.
2. yellow/green/orange/amber is brighter than white/blue/purple (or produces more visible light) whichever you prefer.
3. i really don't give a [freak] either way.. i got em, they server the purpose i wanted. perfectly.

oh and the strobe idea was badass, now i am the coolest kid at the club since my s2k pulses light!!!!
