in 2005 i got mandrel bent piping kit for crx from kteller.com in the standard metal (not stainless), i also got a magnaflow muffler and resonator, then got it pieced & welded together at a good shop, afterwards i coated it with a couple coats of gray primer to protect from rust.
fast forward to now, basically just one of the tailpipes is seperating from the muffler at its base, i think mainly cause it hit something like a speedbump or something else that i was'nt aware of cause they mounted the whole exhaust system way too low.
it does'nt appear rusted, it just has a crack like 2" or less around the circumfrence of the base of one of the tailpipes.
my question is, what are my options??? do i just take it to shop and have them tack weld that one tailpipe in place again?? can i repair it with some type of product myself?? it was only 2005 when i got this whole system which starts after the cat, i realise it was'nt stainless so i know it does'nt last forever but i am not planning on getting a whole system or anything, i just wanted to know best way & cheapest way to re-attach that tailpipe?? any info would help, thanks,

are you sure the JB weld is a good sure fix for it, will it hold good for a while?? or is it better to have shop weld the crack shut?? and would they even do it? or would they bullshit me and tell me i need a complete new exhaust system, lol??
hahahah I thought your username said crack addict, then I look at the thread title and it says crack at the base of tailpipe. I had to come in. lolz
just get it welded again dude. but if you used mild steel tubing I am surprised it has made it 3 years w/o rusting in half.

i am a crackaddict, lol, thanks for the replies, i guess take it to shop that welds and just see how much to mend it back on, gotta do it before it comes off on the highway or something, i don't want to have to order another tailpipe piece from kteller, this ones fine still as long as i get it over and get it welded back.
i should of gone stainless but kind of expensive, one thing that sucks is that i had a tailpipe doing same thing on my previous exhaust system, i had an old school stromung with horizontal muffler placement and two tailpipes with chrome rolled tips, i was gullable and the guy said they could'nt weld it on that one and because i believed him i ended up getting whole new exhaust system which is the one i have now, but i wish i knew more then but i did'nt and wasted that stromung which they stopped making, but on the other hand there was a little rust on that one so it was getting pretty old.

yeah weld it.
I had a similar situation with an old muffler, I had broken it loose (it was rusted) and i tried my best to weld it back with my shitty old welder.
well I did weld it back on, and a day later while driving I floored it and the muffler just shot off on the highway
lucky for me nobody was behind me.
it was actualy pretty funny, I wasnt pissed cause I needed a new cat-back anyway.
