Default ZC Clutch/Flywheel question

Hey guys I have a DOHC obd-0 ZC in my 90 si hatch. I bought a lightened flywheel that supposedly fits all 88-91 civics. I also have a 88 si transmission and a 88-89 clutchmasters clutch kit. I bolted up the flywheel on my zc then I went to put on the pressure plate and the bolt holes dont line up at all, the pressure plate appears to be to small. Now my question is, if I buy a 88-89 flywheel will that bolt up to my zc? any help would be greatly appreciated, thank-you....

you need 88-89 flywheel and it will bolt right up - since you have 88 transmission, you need 88 only clutch - you need to check your clutch disc to see what you actually have as it can't be for both 88 and 89 - 89 clutch is not the same as 88 - 88 disc is for 21 spline transmission and 89 disc is for 20 spline transmission

ACT makes a kit that will work with this flywheel.

Basically it uses a 1989 prelude clutch disk (If I remember correctly) along with the 1990-1991 civic pressure plate to fit the larger dia clutch.

For this application to run with that flywheel you'll need a 86-87 Prelude 2.0Si/86-89 Accord LX-i clutch disc, and a 1990-1991 Civic pressure plate.

I ran this exact set-up in my 1990 civic with an 88-spec Civic Si tranny. 88-spec and some early 89 spec clutches and flywheels are smaller/crappier than the 90-91 spec ones.

Alright, both the transmition and the clutch disc have 21 splines. My question is if I go out and buy a 88 civic flywheel, will this bolt up to my ZC and take care of my problems? that would be my first choice, if that won't work could I go out and buy a pressure plate and use my same disc and everything else?

Yes, but AFAIK no one makes an after market one you will need to find an OEM unit

jlicrx already answered your question. getting a 88 flywheel will work and be the easiest solution.

clutchcityonline.com also sells a whole clutch kit that is made for a 21 spline (88 tranny) and large diameter clutch plate and flywheel. i use it, works great. so this way you can use that lightened flywheel and everything is new.
