charging system problem! low voltage! HELP ME!!!!
first the car is a 91 crx si. heres the deal I can start the car and it stays running just fine. volt gauge says anywhere from 10.5-10.8 while running. battery light on dash is on as well. The car is on its second brand new alternator, all new grounds, new battery cables, new battery all obvious stuff replaced. Car has never died on me. I can turn on all the lights and the voltage doesn't change. I have also started the car with the alternator unplugged and the voltage stays the same even when its running. I am lost. please help
sounds to me like your alternator wire is not connected to the main fuse box under the hood and you are just running off the battery - it is the wire at the bottom center of the picture of the engine harness below (ring connector) - connects into fuse box where it says alternator

Hows the alternator belt?
Also, this is just a stab in the dark but, I remember reading in my shop book that there is a circuit on CRXs that drops the output of the alternator under low load conditions.

The belt is good. I looked thru the haynes manual and read up on how test the system for shorts. I believe I found the short. It is in the stop/horn fuse circuit. This ever happen to anyone else. any tips?
