maintenance required light
My car has 98,043 miles, and somewhere around 97,901 to 97,999 a "maintenance required" light started flashing for about 15 seconds everytime I start the car. Does anyone anything about this?
what's up man... I had this issue twice before. One time I ran just a tab passed 3,000 miles to change my oil and the light came on. I went over like 200 miles and that's all it took. The second time the valve timing needed to be done again. Usually I would get the valve timing done every 20,000 miles. If you have being revving more than usual, then most likely is the oil change. Change the oil even if its not time already and if it doesn't go away take it to the dealer for a check up. GOOD LUCK!

I have no idea what you are talking about... lol
The maintenance light starts blinking every 6k miles or so I believe. At 7.5k it will go solid... This is a reminder to get your 7.5k maintenance done (IE: oil change), that is all. It will NOT tell you when to do a valve adjustment and per your other post, your DO NOT need to get your valves adjusted every 15k!
To reset the light:
- Have key inserted in ignition but in the OFF or LOCKED position.
- Push and hold the trip reset button on the right bottom corner of your gauge cluster.
- Turn key to full ON position and continue holding the button till the light goes off.
If the light is only at the "blinking" stage...
-KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO BE SURE OF A POSITIVE RESET. Or just be patient and wait till the light is on all the time before doing this.
**Some manuals may be a bit off in that they do not tell you to turn the key to the ON position. The 07-08's are smarter and tell you to change your oil based on actually motor use... There a bit different to reset as well.

To reset the 07-08's turn ignition to on. Press the trip until your oil % indicator is displayed. Press and hold the trip button until the % indicator is blinking. Let go and press down on the button again until it resets to 100%.
