Default snailedej6's build (56k make a sammich)

Just starting up my build thread. Starting from way back when I first got the car and leading all the way up to how it sits today, then I'll update it from there.

I got the car from my dad. He had put a fart can and some Motegi MR7's on it already. The first thing I did was suspension. Dropzone shocks and cheap "Arospeed" lowering springs. The next thing was a system. 2 Kicker CVR 12's and an Infinity 1211a. Waste of money, wish I had known this at the time. This is the car a couple months after I got it.

Hated the tail lights, so I did away with them for some stocks:

At this point I decided the system wasn't big enough, so I upgraded. Kicker L7 15, and a bigass box that wouldn't let me put the cover over it. The results: Stolen.
Pic of the dash after the head unit was tore out by a crowbar(sp):

They were obviously after the system. They stole all my wiring and what not. Broke a bunch of plastic in the process. Luckily, I found it. Insurance was kind and I got $1,200 for the damages and the system.

I took the $1,200 I got from insurance and put it towards an LS swap. JDM-ONLINE.COM was out of LS trannys, so I got a B16 instead. Pics of the swap:

Out with the old:

In with the new:

New Tokico shocks and Skunk2 springs and she was back on the ground:

Then it needed an exhaust so on went the full 3" because I was thinking ahead for turbo. Vibrant resonator, muffler, and cat. 3" from the DP back. Don't really have any pics of that. But here's how she sat after all this and a nice bath. Flat black bumper is there because I didn't have time to paint it, needed a way to get to work.

Here she was after some driving. Threw the intake on there with the exhaust.

And then this. Never let your friends drive your car. Ditch at 30 mph. I was lucky that it didn't bend up framerail. New core support was needed, and boy was I pissed off.

Summer rolled around, and I decided it was time to fix some stuff on the hatch. So I started gathering parts, new front end, turbo, paint, etc. Couple pics (not cell phone quality this time!)of the hatch before I decided to park it and do all this work to it:

Yes, I know some of the plates aren't blocked out. Its not at its registered address

With some parts lying around and a spare car to drive, it was time to start the teardown.

Had it looking like this after a days work:

Nasty old core support:

Get outta here!

This one looks much better:thumbsup:

And now lets mock the new front end up:

Maybe a preview of the front mount? Sure, why not..

Split the tranny and the engine, we will be replacing some stuff here:

Get the block stripped down for the new pistons/rods:

Now start sanding down for new paint:

And fill those ugly holes all over the car:

More sanding..

Getting there!

Looking much better with some interior back in place:

Now onto the parts that I have collected:

Mounted on the disgusting ebay mani that a friend brought over:

Need a clutch to put it to the pavement:

And a BOV:

New pistons/rods in now..

Clean!

The head (getting crower stg2 turbo cams & valvetrain rework.. pnp, etc)

Bottom end is getting there:
