Which are you, a sack swinger or a hater?

I dunno. I think I like seeing Civics pass GT40's.
It's probably a "you had to be there thing" that's related somehow to what the GT40 guy was saying about the car and his driving.
No idea.
But it's funny, and I don't mind seeing it. :-)

I think the video is great, and I aplaud the driver of the civic. I would love to be in that situation.
However you have to take into consideration the driver of the gt40 has in the back of his mind that he just paid $150,000 for this car. In that situation I would drive like a *****. Thats more than I paid for my house.

exactly, that video was awesome for sure.

That video is the clearest example of a couple of things:
#1- A "high performance" street car is still a street car. Race cars are always better suited for the track. We do not know what tires/struts the GT was using, but the Civic was set up for racing and it showed.
#2- Just because you drive a fast car, that does not mean you are a fast driver. The guy driving the GT was not driving that car very well.

Ditto. Either that, or he really sucks/is a pure beginner. Neither is necessarily a bad thing as it was an HPDE and means nothing
Regardless, it's always cool seeing a four banger chase down a loaded domestic like that
P.S. I'm neither a hater or a sack swinger

That pretty much sums it up for me.
That pretty much sums it up for me.
According to Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, these things are crap in the corners.
PS - At the end of the day, he's still going home in one of the sexiest chic magnets on the road today. I've seen a couple up close and I'm not going to lie, its one of the nicest $100K-$200K range cars out there.

I think the big thing if the story was told right was the smack talking the GT owner was doing in the classroom. Sometimes humbleness is the best even if you know you are a good driver or you have a great car.
The 1st HPDE event I went to we had a guy in a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 boasting about his xxx hp, and how it cornered on rails. And of course this guy was holding up traffic trying to pass him on the straights but wouldn't point people by. It was getting so annoying but finally pointed me by on the front straight.

We also had a karting champion in the classroom (I find out later - when he passes me after Oak Tree). The kid was driving an F150 Lightning. On the track he was tailing a 2001 BMW M3! lol.

Woopty doo. So the guy in the GT didn't know how to drive and the guy in the Honda did. Do you get a prize for winning the track day?
The video should be shown in classes of how not to drive when you have a lot of HP and are slow in the corners. The GT driver was an obvious novice and should have had an instructor in the car with him.
I'm not sure what i was more amazed at, how slow that guy was in the corners or just how freaking fast that car accelerated in the straights!

</TD></TR></TABLE>Man, what crawled up your *** and died?
This was the "Advanced" group. The guy talked smack all weekend. And he got rolled by a better driver in a dinky daily driver.
I think the only point that was being made was that a decent driver in a chitbox can pull a faster laptime then a egocentric driver in a supercar.

No ****, that point has been made 1billion times on honda tech. Bragging about being the fastest at a track day is lame.

I've been on track for 8 years now and almost every supercar or high hp track beast of a car owner has always been somewhat humble in either accepting he's an inexperienced driver or admitting he's not going to push the car on the track. This GT owner just rubbed me the wrong way for being arrogant.
Besides, ask anyone who knows me if I've ever bragged about anything to anyone. I'm defiantly not that great of a driver since I'm a full 3 seconds off my lap time from two years ago. Even at a 2:12, there are about 50 HC racers that can beat my lap times. And the fact that I've had a turbo's B18 that's been daily driven and tracked for over 3 years now and not blown up is 100% credited to my tuner.

I have two main rules when it comes to anything I consider a toy, like a weekend car or a motorcycle:
1. I don't finance toys.
2. If I can't afford to break it, then I can't afford to buy it.
