4th Gen. "brake lamp" annoyance???
So I just figured out my ABS light and fixed the problem now I have this dam brake lamp light on. My brake lights/tail lights work fine and have new bulbs but I still get the light off. It goes on and off, not flashing but it has a mind of its own and its really getting to me.
I looked over all the wires by the taillights and I am about to take a look behind the dash and at the light itself.
Im just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and where they found the problem. Im thinking about just unhooking that light but its kinda nice to have. TIA

I had that problem and it seems to me that I had corrosion in one of the sockets. The others had a healthy dose of that electronics grease stuff, but for some reason one was dry. I would check your light sockets and make sure all are getting a good connection.
And dont forget that the ebrake being up will cause it to come on. So check the switch/sensor in the ebrake too.
Could be a bad connection like said above.

different lights arn't they?
I thought there was a brake lamp light, and the parking brake light??...damn my brains melted..I can't honestly remember. If I have to go out to my car to look... lol
but I agree, its a loose connection. The brake lamp light only goes on when an open circuit is detected amongst the 3 parallel runs to all the brake lights (high, top of rear windshiled lamp, and the two rear lights). If any of these parallel runs has an open circuit, the lamp comes on.

haha, that is annoying.
Remove the brake fluid cap and jiggle the floaty thing on the top. If thats faulty it can do that.
There is one more thing it can be, but off the top of my head I forget. Its in one of my many threads here somewhere.

what light are you refering to exactly? the brake light or the one that tells you there is a bulb out. if it is the brake lamp out light then i have had simular probs, i had a loose bulb in the 3rd brake light that would act up from time to time.
