D16Z6 or B16a1
D16Z6 or B16a1
You can just swap in a Z6 head if you don't want to waste a lot of money and get VTAK and some extra HP.

if you are trying to pass smog in Cali don't get a b16a just stick to stock unless you like the hassle. If you do a swap do it right or you won't pass smog and than you will be screwed
Smog tech i go to told me he'd pass it if it was the same size as the oem engine or same size available from the time. Say for EF 1.5 and 1.6. and he's from test only.
A shop in California told me that if you do an engine swap. And the engine was not originally for that car then it would automatically not pass smog. But idk for sure. So i would like to get some info on this topic too. Because i want to know how all these engine swaps are running around. Or if the shop just bs me.

by law that is true. they can not smog a car with a swapped engine. It is illegal and they can lose their license. If you do a swap you have to get it bar'd.

The guy that smogs my car does the same thing. As long as it is the same size engine and doesn't need an EGR or anything like that he will smog it for me.

Please don't spread misinformation.
CRX Si / HF had MPFI.
CRX STD/DX had DPFI.
Hatch followed same route, but did not have an HF model.
