Default 96 integra auto to manual wiring question

ok so a few months ago i was prepping my car for a manual conversion

i took out the shifter and i cant remember where it is. maybe i threw it away i forget its been a few months.

my question is....without the 14 pin shifter clip...can i just cut the wire harness side clip off....seal the exposed wiring for the wires i dont need...and splice the wires i need

wire harness ======[ / 14 pin clip / ]=======shifter(missing)
^ ^ ^
(where i plan to cut...seal...and splice the wires)

i know this is not the ideal way to go about doing this but i cant locate anyone with an auto shifter laying around that i can steal the clip from.

will it be safe? i was going to shrink wrap the ends of the wires i wont be using so they dont touch each other and short out.
