stock or aem? which brake pads are better?
My brother has a 01 type R and was wondering which brake pads are better. Stock or Aem brake pads. His rear brakes sounds really bad and sqeak horrible. He needs brakes that are good for hard daily driving and street racing. Any help is appreciated. And the weather where we live is hot, we live in arizona. Sometime the weather effects the pads so I was just letting you guy know. Also if you have any other recomendation that would be helpfull as well. If you can please tell price, and where we can get them. Thanks

AEM pads just over priced NISSIN pads.......forget pads they are old news..its all about tampons ...y00...j/k Porterfield Rs4 pads have to be the best street/track brake pads you can get...i recomend those
I use AEM pads in the rear on the track over the stock pads. They will have better bite when they are heated up. Aside from that i dont know about running them front and rear on the street. BTW, i have carotech's on the front for the track. Stock pads on all 4 corners for the street as they are just fine for that.

I don't. They can't handle the heat generated at the track. I had a set of Porterfield R4S on my GS-R, and as the brakes heated up, the metal backing plate softened and the whole brake pad bent around the piston. Not pretty.

AEM pads are better than OEM. Probably about the same cold response, and once they are heated up they definitely grab better.
Work great for street driving(NOT racing!
) and AutoX on my lowly Integra GS.
BTW, you guys might want to actually USE a product before bashing it. With that said, don't even think about using POS EBC pads.

Hehe...I agree on the comment regarding AEM brake pads.
For aggressive street driving, the choices which will meet your needs are: Axxis Ultimate, Ferodo DS2500, and Hawk HP Plus. All three of these brake pads have similar performance. The Hawk HP Plus has slightly greater bite, but higher dust and noise levels. The Axxis Ultimate and Ferodo DS2500 are more rotor friendly, with lower dust and noise.

so what do you run now
I should mention that I have not tried any of the pads that Andie (cobalt) is suggesting. Andie knows a whole lot about brake pads - that's the business he's in - and I trust his recommendations. He sells Endless and can tell you how all the various kinds of pads compare. (His prices kick butt too.)
nsxtcjr:
I decided at the last minute not to carry Endless and Pagid...thought the list prices were too high for my customers, and that there are many other products that perform as well or better for far less.
Our brake pad line consists of:
COBALT RACING BRAKES, AXXIS ULTIMATE, HAWK, PERFORMANCE FRICTION, FERODO, and MINTEX
Our brake fluid line consists of:
ATE SUPER BLUE RACING, ATE TYP200 GOLD, MOTUL RBF 600, AP RACING SUPER 600, and CASTROL SRF
One's selection of the proper pad and fluid depends on what they are doing with the vehicle...so people should not shop by brand name alone.

I bought some Ultimates from Andie about a week ago and love them! Autoxed on them last Sun and was very impressed. Got the pads next day too! Thanks for the great product and service Andie.
