Default Extending the factory warranty

I'm thinking about extending my factory warranty.

For those that have looked into this, or have done this, is acura the best people to go through?

From what I understand you should be able to shop around and find the best price from different dealers, even dealers out of state

And yes, I would only buy the warranty from Acura, no reason to have to go through a 3rd party

yes go thru Acura, because if you go thru a 3rd party they wont cover chit. Also be aware that is going to cost between 600-1200 depending on what year your car is. Also note that any wear and tear items w/ not be covered I.E snyncros, clutch, etc.... unless you are a really good arguer. Also The way i see it is that if anything was to go wrong, it would of already happened, as you know the Warranty covers only manufact. error, not yours.

Yeah it's negotiable. Typically, you can get it much cheaper when you purchase the warranty with the car when new because you can use the car purchase as a bargaining point.

When you go in to negotiate, keep in mind that the Honda extended warranties typically are offered at almost a 100% mark up over dealer cost.

Go in with quotes from 3rd party extended warranties and see if the dealer will at least get close to those prices.

Go to http://www.4acura.com (an Acura dealer) for a warranty quote. Should be arounf $900 for a 7/75 warranty. Normal dealer will probably want $1200-$1700 for the exact same thing.

when i was thinking of extending my warranty i went thru this website. Some guy called me at a dealer near San Diego, i talked to him on the phone a few times, and we settled on a $600 for another 3 year/36k mile warranty. During our conversations I clearly stated that this was for a 98 Integra Type R and he kept on saying there is no cost difference between years and models. So I take the complete 3 hour drive to San Diego from my house, and we start the paper work, then as im about to sign he says,

"oh..i didnt realize it was a Type R, and its a 98."

Im like i already told you this and you said its ok..he responds by

"i guess i didnt pay attention to it, if your car is 4 years old then its gonna be 400 more and since its a Type R its gonna be another 300 for a total of $1300"

i looked at him..didnt say anything, took the paper work, ripped it up..threw it at him and walked out..l

i DO NOT recomend this guy at the website. The local Acura dealer was willing to sell me a Acura Warranty for 950 for my ITR but i passed for this loser.

I was under the impression that Honda (Acura) extended warranties cost the dealer the same amount regardless of the age/milage of the car, as long as the car is still under the factory warranty. But if you go in there with an older car, they will say whatever they want to get you to pay more for it...

I got the Honda 7yr/100,000 mi warranty with roadside assistance on my Prelude for $800 from the dealer when I bought my car. (And keep in mind that my Honda factory warranty only goes to 3yr/35,000mi). The dealer claimed his cost was $600 on it.

you have a certain point in your current warranty stage where you can extend, i think you need to have 3 months or 3k miles left on the warranty to renew it. I was told by the man that if the car was more than 4 years old that i had to pay more.
