1996 db7 integra....mild build up
-bought it bone stock around may 2008 for 2300$, automatic, 200k miles on the body, and car was on its 2nd engine already. it had no stereo, steelies, and the leather seats were fubar. it had a clear title, alarm, and a/c so i was game.
i bought coilovers, blades, put in a stereo, and slammed it a week later

then the crankshaft key shattered somehow one day and chipped the end of the crank so basically i had to take out the engine. i had no idea what i was gonna do so the car sat like this for a few weeks while i sorted through my options.

heres what i decided to do
-toss the old crank
-buy a used crank
-re-use the block and rods
-had everything machined and block bored to 81.5mm
-arp rodbolts installed onto the rods
-bought rs machine 81.5mm pr3 pistons
-bought a jdm b16a head and had it resurfaced
-bought a obd2 gsr transmission
-installed gsr oil and waterpump etc. etc. etc.
basically built me a reliable lsvtec and installed it and i have been driving it ever since.

engine mounted

engine running (not the prettiest bay but whatever...i did it all myself with the shitty paychecks i used to make)

after that, the only mods i did were cosmetic.
immediately after the swap i rocked it like this

then i scored some gramlights from another local db owner for a decent price. whats good is im pretty sure im the only one on this island with this color 57c's

then i added a lip and left it that way

then i bought a gsr longblock

started to put parts on the longblock

as of right now thats how the car is. i am waiting on parts i ordered. i have a complete a/c friendly spoolin performance turbo kit. the turbo im using is a garrett turbo and it is in excellent condition. the turbo itself dyno'd 453whp and didnt leak or smoke or anything so i know i got a good kit. im just waiting on parts so i can get started again. im gonna have the car painted and maybe a bumper change. but as of right now march 2010 thats where im at.

nice build and nice car...i wouldnt change the color.
I would also ditch the b16 cams they are the weakest ones Honda made. even some GSR cams would be a step up.
Good luck on the build

thanks for the well wishes....thats just what i need to get motivated to finish.
if anything the color will stay the same or i was thinking clover green pearl.
the cams arent definite. however, you and several others suggested gsr cams so thats probably what i'll get.
oh and btw brice hayden your car is really nice

parts that came in this week
-oem gsr t belt
-oem b16a2 w pump
-oem b16a2 tensioner
-oem b16a2 tensioner spring
-vtec sub harness (off ebay, surprisingly its well crafted and should work fine
)
im still trying to find some upper b16 timing covers and 96+ teg lower timing covers and my friend has my hondabond
oh and i found out that b16a2 waterpumps dont have bored holes for the dowel pins on the b18b block. i heard its ok to run it without the dowels but thats kinda sketchy in my eyes. apparently delsol vtec b16 waterpumps have dowels. i already tossed out the oem package so returning it is not an option.

wow i kinda fell off the earth for a few weeks. heres my update
woke up this morning. called in sick. thought to myself "i should just slap my motor in before lunch"

couldnt get a good bay shot so i went and stood on my roof

i still need a throttle body, and a chipped p28 with a basemap.

yeah, the reason for that is i work full time and i spend most of my days bodyboarding or surfing. i only get to work on the car during the weekends because on weekdays my only free time is at night.
not to mention i live in hawaii so when i order parts they usually take weeks to get here and cost a lot more the ship.
things left to do
-install axles
-install wire harness
-drain old gas
-install header
-fill engine with fluids
-order phearable.net ecu w/ no knock sensor & w/ basemap for my setup (will do tomorrow)
-order obd2a to obd1 conversion harness (will do tomorrow)
-set timing
-adjust valves
-wire up the shifter harness so car can start (used to be automatic)

thanks
yeah if the surf is up, im definitely not working on my car.
i did everything all by myself so far so im kinda happy. i will have my friend do my timing and adjust my valves because i dont have the tools and i'd like to donate funds to his cause (his girl is pregnant).
gotta finish this car up because my truck is in dire need of a tune up

some old nex one piece coilovers i had from a previous car.
they dont look like the ones being sold nowdays. they have teal springs on chrome strut bodies. they can go really low. i can literally slam the car until the tires wont spin
thats my kinda coilover!
