Default Aerostich vs. Alpinestars vs. Dainese. Textile pants discussion.

I have fallen in love with riding so much now, that driving my car just isn't as fun as riding everywhere on my bike. Subsequently, I am in search for a pair of textile pants. I have been rocking A* track pants 24/7 whenever I ride, but now I would like to commute and need something a little more comfortable. Here are the choices:

Aerostich Darien pants. Have heard that they last a long time, but not much other info on them. They're the most expensive out of this group @ nearly $ 300.

http://www.aerostich.com/catal....html

Alpinestars A-10 Air Flo pants. Couldn't find any reviews. They are precurved just like my leathers and I really like that. On the other hand they seem a bit tight fitting. They are the second most expensive @ $230

Dainese Drake Air pants. All the reviews say 100%. Its Dainese so it doesn't look bad. Seems to have a lot of air flow for those warm cali days. They are the least expensive @ $199.

Out of the 3, which seems like the better option?

The Darien's are the best of the three. They will keep the water out and are comfortable for all day use. Check adv rider for more info on them. Also, a lot of long distance riders chose 'stich gear, it'll last forever.

They are not useless. I have seen firsthand injuries from a textile vs. leather...vs bare skin. They do protect a great more than just jeans or mesh. However, I do realize that they do not offer the same protection as leathers.

Leathers>textile>mesh>jeans>squid skin.

Yeah saw a lot of road touring people use stich. They are extremely expensive though (1000 for a roadcrafter...yikes). Anyways I am leaning towards those right now. I just don't like how baggy they look even when properly sized. I guess they are supposed to be an over-pants type of deal?

lol

Get the 'Stich

During the summer, I ride with a Tourmaster Mesh oversuit over my work cloths. During the winter when its not raining, I ride with Teknic leather track pants and one of my leather or textile jackets. I plan on getting a Dainese textile pant to go with my Dainese textile jacket this season though.

If you are looking for a riding pant that will last forever, Aerostich is the one to buy.

I think you owe it to yourself to check out Motoport pants as well. They have a coupe different styles available with a couple different fabrics (kevlar, 1000 denier Cordura). The best part is, they're custom made so you get a perfect fit. The price is reasonable, and you can add a Goretex liner to make it wind and waterproof (it's nice being able to take it out on warm to hot days).

Just make sure you have them skip the ugly, dumbass buckle flap and just do a pair of belt loops.

I have an Aerostich Roadcrafter, that's going on 9 years old. I've been in a couple incidents with it and it's still good to go. You get what you pay for with a roadcrafter.

I don't use it that much anymore thought because I don't ride as far as I used to.

Anyone deal with Dragginjeans.com? The pair of Zip-Offs that I see are only available on Dragginjeans.com.au (Australia?)

I wanna ride somewhere in relative safety and zip them off to wear shorts when off the bike.

I ride in Draggin Jeans. Never tried the zip offs though. You could always get one of the more loose fitting styles and wear board shorts or something underneath.
