Adding air conditioning to 89 CRX si - Help please?
Does anyone have any knowledge on installing AC into my 89 CRX si? Someone claimed all SI models came with AC, but I'm positive mine is an SI, and it definitely has no AC.
- What year donor CRX / Civic car can I use?
- Does it require removal of the dash?
- What components should I be removing?
- Is there somewhere I can go for detailed instructions?
Thanks!

FYI: a/c was a dealer-installed option, covered under the standard warranty. I think that all Hondas had it that way until the early 90s. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not sure if you'd be able to use the same HVAC box in the dash; there's a popout a/c button there, but don't know if you can just replace the false front with an a/c button, or the entire box. It's a serious operation just to do that part of the operation (and new boxes cost $200 - and if you go used, it will probably crack by the temp controller **** soon enough), without even thinking of the condensor and other a/c parts. If you do it, might as well use the new freon - the old stuff, while better, is getting harder to find, and becoming pretty expensive.

theres something wrong with my ac... when i had my switch panel in i was able to turn the a/c compressor on but my blower wouldnt work and the blower was in good conditoin, anyone know what this could be??
Having AC in an Si back in 89 was not a standard option, so not ALL Si's had AC. I know that for a fact because my 89 CRX Si does NOT have AC. If you want an AC unit, I do have one for sale, excluding the evaporator. Email me if you are interested, located in OC area.
