ITA CRX info needed....
anybody have a link to a site which describes a buildup of an ITA spec CRX?
I've tried doing a search on yahoo, but was only able to find sites w/ pictures or list of parts.

shi - who knows it's probabaly cheaper in the long run to just buy a turn-key racer

I already sent an IM to travis

Having put the first wrinkles into my ITR recently, I can assure you that the horror would pass.
Look at the carnage that the RTR and DC cars went thru over the years - they can be fixed.
Still, I think going ITA in a CRX is probably the smartest way to go - when value is the difference between being broke and racing more often vs being broke and racing less often. When you're addicted to the GFCP you want to be high as often as possible....you forget you're so broke too during the bliss.
Scott, who's so broke he even dropped the Speed Channel....I can no longer bear to watch others taking such big hits off the GFCP anyway.....

my advice if you already havent bought the car is to get a 90-93 integra LS. its more competitive than a CRX in ITA now, the rest of the nation hasnt figured that out yet, but they will. there will be more spare parts available for the LS chassis and engine than CRX, and the suspension parts is the same you have the same aftermarket suppliers.
A few years ago, when ITA was more alive up here (in SCCA and Conference) the Blackstones ran a couple of ITA Gen-2 Integras and won alot.
Tyson - tell us more about why they make the better choice vs a CRX.
Scott, who'd be really interested in this if he was starting all over from scratch....

easy, 140hp DOHC 1.8, vs 105hp SOHC 1.6.
longer wheelbase is manageable and weight penalty doesnt offset the power, it comes out with a better power/weight ratio than crx. and there will be more engines, more parts available in the future than a crx. a former top crx driver in my region came back last year with a integra and beat all his former records and won the season. he says he would not go back. at ARRC, 3rd place was integra. louis who won 2nd in his crx said he thinks the integra can be tweaked to have beat him as it was pulling on him everytime, he had a FD and the integra didnt. of course its all about the driver, but for the reasons i have listed, integra is a better platform. although there are definately many built crx's laying around waiting to be bought all set up and with spares.

Look for a 92-93 RS chasis to start from. (no power, sunroof or ABS - It's be lighter, slightly stiffer and you avoid a leaky sunroof skin)
The 92-93 have a 10 HP advantage to the 90-91 due to a more agressive cam profile. (i'm looking for a engine as we speak...)
Stay away from the GSR since it puts you in the ITS catagory and I'm not sure how competeative it would be.
I bought mine built, so I don't know what info I could give you if you want build info, but I could give you the name and number of the shop that built mine n PA...(IM me)

Greg:
would you care to divulge any specs on your RS? (brakes, suspension, etc) Even better, how about some pix?

shi - who wonders if Scott's G3 chassis set up would transfer over well to the G2 chassis.....

Power to weight isn't everything. You still have to stop and turn that extra weight.
If you haven't already done so, take a look at the tech photos at IT.com...

This is actually an ITC CRX but a lot of the lessons that can be learned from these pix can get applied anywhere - particularly to the A version of the same type car.
This is an interesting conversation. I mentioned the ITA early-90s Integra on IT.com earlier this week and some people didn't even know that it was classified. I think it sounds like a potent option. The good news seems to be that they are common enough that you don't pay the GS-R premium price for a donor car...

yeah, it seems everyone in IT.com worships/fears the CRX. i guess it has really left its mark in the last 15 years.

Not really much to mention...
stock b18a motor - milled head only
CAI
4-2-1 header
cat back exhaust
power steering inpact (for now)
no ABS
Tokico Illuminas w/ GC coilovers
Eibach springs (450f/650r) (going to 650f/900r)
OE rotors
Hawk blue front - Pep Boys rear
six point 1 3/4 welded cage
Corbeau Forza
blah blah blah...
I like the car. It's got good pep and with the extra wheelbase seems not as twichy as some of the CRXs I've been behind.
I personally like the fact that the car "talks" to you and gives you plenty of warning when you're approching the edge of traction.
I need to look into some power gains and to continue to look for legal weight reductions. Currently, the car is at 2500 WITH a half tank and a 200 lb driver...

Nice boiler/diamond plate floorboard.
Ausmith -- that's a very nice cage.
reminds me of my motorless black 87.

Could be worse things to choose between. Fill the hole with a B16 and go kick butt in H1

It would look bad if NASA made me race in the "Unlimited" class.
