droppin in vtec
i pulled out the crappy d15 and trying to do a b16 swap. why is it so hard to install the engine. the mounts i have is from ebay. they fit good but not too sure bout the rear mount. could i use the same rear mount support from the d15? and how can i get the engine in with ease using just an engine hoist and a floor jack.
No you cannot use the bracket from the d15. You need a 90-93 integra manual tranny bracket. And yea its a pain in the *** to put the engine in from the top. Its a real tight fit and it kinda has to go in at an angle, cause you need to get the transmission under the subframe before you can get the rest of the engine to drop down. And also at some point while you're lowering it in your gonna have to find a way to stuff that DA rear trans bracket in there. I can tell you from experience its pretty fun getting it into place. You can't drop the engine in with the bracket installed on the transmission. And if you wait till the engine is all the way in and then try to bolt on the bracket, you can't do that either. With the engine half in you need to get the bracket very loosely into place, and then lower the engine down until everything lines up, and then you can put all the bolts in.
I put my first B16 in my hatch through the top by myself and it only took an hour. its not that bad.
And like what D16SiHatch said you can't have the bracket on the motor when you drop it in.
