d15b diffrences
hi HT, i own a d15b obd1 engine sohc vtec and i burned my piston rings, i found a vtec-e block, will it bolt on and would it be the same?! i'm running a turbo application, i saw that the pistons on the vtec-e engine looked like low compression
it's a direct swap mechanically, but it will not run the same, nor will it produce as much power.
the VTEC-e pistons have a huge dish to compensate for the low smaller combustion chamber in the head.
the dish in those pistons is too large for your head, even with a turbo application. (~7.5:1 compression)
pull the engine apart, replace the rings, and tune the car. (or you'll be burning rings again)
