How to tell LSD?
Howdy,
I was just wondering, because it came to my attention. I heard that you can look through the differential holes (CV Axle hole) and tell whether its LSD or not.
Supposively, if you see a bar going across, then its NON-LSD. Which is quite simple to understand.
But what if you have a transmission such as a YS1 with FACTORY LSD. Its the one thats suppose to switch from left to right front tire for traction and etc.
Heres a pic with supposively a YS1 with LSD. Theres a bar going through it, although I do notice it does look a little bigger.

MY question is, is that really accurate? The whole "if bar is inside transmission, its non lsd, and vice versa, etc"?
What would be the correct way of checking without disassembling the tranny? (I know theres probably no other way)
Any help is gladly appreciated.

Ok cool, thats one person. Just making sure what people really think.
Because I'm going to buy a YS1 with factory LSD, and I wanna make sure what I should see or not see through that cv axle hole

Not true, Just because you can see through it doesn't mean its is equipped with limited slip. On honda transmission yes, if you can see through them then it does. But on other cars maybe. But the Mazda Protege speeds LSD is one whole unit and cannot be seen through... So not ALL lsd's can be seen through. (unless you are talking about a honda)

LOL. Yes, I based my assumption on the following:
1. The picture was of a Honda transmission.
2. They asked about a Honda transmission.
Here is a picshur:
