Howdy,

I was just wondering, because it came to my attention. I heard that you can look through the differential holes (CV Axle hole) and tell whether its LSD or not.

Supposively, if you see a bar going across, then its NON-LSD. Which is quite simple to understand.

But what if you have a transmission such as a YS1 with FACTORY LSD. Its the one thats suppose to switch from left to right front tire for traction and etc.

Heres a pic with supposively a YS1 with LSD. Theres a bar going through it, although I do notice it does look a little bigger.



MY question is, is that really accurate? The whole "if bar is inside transmission, its non lsd, and vice versa, etc"?

What would be the correct way of checking without disassembling the tranny? (I know theres probably no other way)

Any help is gladly appreciated.

 

Both my trannys with stock lsd units have no bar so i would have to say you dont have lsd

 

Ok cool, so theres an agreement that there should not be a bar through the cv axle hole?

Any objections?

Edit: I'm going to buy a YS1 with factory LSD, and I wanna make sure what I should see or not see through that cv axle hole

Had my tranny out over the weekend. Non-LSD stock GSR tranny and there was definitely a bar through the differential like shown in the picture. The LSD differential does not have the bar through it.
