Good morning everybody, hope everyone had a good weekend! Anyways, I need some help. This weekend, my alternator belt snapped on me...twice! my buddy was running my car pretty hard and my battery light came on...quick inspection, and sure enough, the alternator belt was gone, vanished, nada...so a quick trip to the local autozone, and 10 minutes later back in business...so my buddy with the lead foot decides to "test it out"...once again, the belt snapped...was the belt too tight? could it be one of the pulleys? any recommedations other than not letting my friend
drive my car anymore! haha, thanks!

I'm going with too tight. A shop manual will have the actual amount of deflection the belt should have, but basically, it should have a little bit of slack in it. Tough to quantify. You'll also need to go back and retighten it in about 1000 miles as it will stretch just a bit.
